It\u2019s the perfect game for the entire family play together and with these free downloadable slideshows that we\u2019ve created for you, all you really need to do is play!<\/p>\n

The Floor is one of the newest game shows out there and it\u2019s a hit for a reason \u2013 it\u2019s fun to watch and play along with the contestants at home.<\/p>\n

But what if you could actually play? Now you can with this floor inspired Thanksgiving game we spent hours creating for you so you don\u2019t have to! Out of all of the Thanksgiving games we came up with this year, this is the one everyone left our party saying they wanted to play with their own families!<\/p>\n

If you\u2019ve never seen the game show, I recommend watching an episode first so you understand the general idea of how this works, especially if you\u2019re hosting. <\/p>\n

But the basic idea is this \u2013 people go head to head trying to beat a clock as they try to guess images, words, and even sound clips (in the game show \u2013 not ours) associated with a particular category. Categories for our Thanksgiving version are things like Thanksgiving foods, Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day parade balloons, Thanksgiving words, and so on.<\/p>\n

As you win head to head battles, you win a part of the \u201cfloor\u201d and eventually the person who ends up with the entire floor wins the game. It may sound a little complicated, but it\u2019s actually super simple \u2013 especially since we\u2019ve pretty much created the game for you! <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s get into how it works! <\/p>\n

What You Need to Play<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n

If you were trying to play this on your own, you would need to create a slideshow of images\/text for every person playing. But luckily you\u2019re not \u2013 you\u2019re going to use our game so all you need are: <\/p>\n

Category Slideshows and Printouts<\/h3>\n

You\u2019ll need one category person playing. You can download nine free categories that are already created at the bottom of this post. If you need more than that, you can purchase additional categories in my shop here. <\/p>\n

I have an example of what a slide in a slideshow looks like below.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll also need printouts for each of the categories that you will use to setup your floor. These are included with the free category slideshows you can download at the bottom of this post. <\/p>\n

And lastly, you\u2019ll need a printed out list of the categories that you can cut out and put in a bowl to be your random generator (to choose who goes first, who challenges next, etc.). All of these are included in the printable download at the bottom of this post. <\/p>\n

TV and Phone\/Computer<\/h3>\n

You\u2019ll need a large TV that is easy to see and a phone or computer that can either mirror to that TV or can connect via HDMI. It is MUCH easier to play if you mirror than to hook up via HDMI but connecting will also work too if you don\u2019t have mirroring capabilities. <\/p>\n

Tip!<\/h2>\n

If you\u2019re not sure how to mirror (also called casting or sometimes streaming) from your phone or a table to a TV, search \u201chow to cast from (insert your phone type here) to (insert your type of TV) for specific instructions. Or ask someone more tech savvy than you for help \u2013 it\u2019s pretty easy but every phone and TV handles it a little different! <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Chess Timer<\/h3>\n

A chess timer app is PERFECT for this Thanksgiving floor game because players are going to be starting each other\u2019s time (as they answer questions) \u2013 exactly how chess works. <\/p>\n

I highly recommend downloading it on a tablet. A phone will work but a tablet is much better. You can download the Apple app here or Android (Google Play) app here. <\/p>\n

Post-It Notes<\/h3>\n

In addition to the all of the above, you\u2019ll also need post-it notes available for people to write their name on to show their territories on the floor. You could also just have people stand up by them the entire game, but it\u2019s a lot of standing.<\/p>\n

We found having people write their name on post-it notes then placing them on their spaces on the \u201cfloor\u201d was the easiest way to represent this! You\u2019ll need one post-it note per person\/category. <\/p>\n
